Each NSW Public High School has a zone in which the majority of enrolled students live.
QHS Zone
The zone for Queanbeyan High includes the suburbs in Queanbeyan City Council and Palerang Shire Council know as: Queanbeyan, Crestwood, Letchworth, Dodsworth, Greenleigh, Ridgeway, Carwoola, Captains Flat, Wamboin and Bungendore. This zone includes all areas north of Fergus Road and Thorpe Street.
A student who lives in zone automatically qualifies to enrol at Queanbeyan High.
Out of Zone Enrolments
Students who live out of zone are welcome to make aplication for enrolment. An interview with the Principal is essential prior to an offer of enrolment being made.
There are limits placed on the number of students who can enrol as an out of zone student and factors such as suitability and physical capacity of the school are taken into account.
Once an upper limit of 112 students per year is reached, any further enrolment will be awarded to QHS zone students only.
Students who attend the following primary schools are eligible for enrolment at Queanbeyan High: Queanbeyan Public, Queanbeyan West Public, Queanbeyan East Public, Queanbeyan South Public, Jerrabomberra Public, Bungendore Public, Captains Flat Public, Michelago Public, and St. Gregorys Primary.
Students from the ACT may also enrol at Queanbeyan High School, but priority is given to NSW residents.
How to apply
All applications for enrolment should be addressed to the Principal. An enrolment interview is required before a student can be enrolled.
Queanbeyan High School has three Special Education classes for students with different levels of intellectual disability. All Special Education classes are considered regional classes and enrolment is determined after application to a placement panel. Contact your local school for more details.
