Students enjoy an all-round general education
As well as enjoying the many sporting facilities, there are many hobby groups also flourish including a beanie club and chess clubs.
The Curriculum
A standard curriculum is only acceptable in a standard school. Great places of learning stray well beyond the mandated limits of ordinary instruction. Please look in the College Program and 9-10 Electives for specific courses that are running in 2009. These may changes in 2010 according to student demand.
Mathematics includes number, measurement, space and working mathematically.
English includes reading, writing, talking, listening, spelling and handwriting.
Science has an emphasis on investigating, designing and making and problem solving using technology
Computing is integrated into all subject areas. Skills in technology play a significant role in learning across all subjects areas.
Human Society and Its Environment (HSIE) seeks to encourage a deeper appreciation of history, languages, societies and cultures.
Languages other than English (LOTE) Students study the Indonesian language at QHS.
Visual Arts, Music and Drama are taught in specialist facilities to support the program. Students may learn a musical instrument and there is a junior and senior band.
Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) includes sport, games and health studies.
Library Studies includes the understanding of how the library is organised together with the development of research skills.
Technology and Applied Studies includes the mandatory Technology course together with studies in agriculture, metal, wood, food, child studies and computing.
