VET

Vocational Education and Training

VET courses are available to College students as part of thier study towards the HSC. The courses may be delivered at school or through TAFE and CIT.

Students who study VET courses also obtain a TAFE certificate and so are dual accredited.

Students may use this TAFE accreditation to apply for recognition of prior learning (RPL) if they pursue further training in this area of study.

Students may study additional hours and work one day a week in industry as part of a school-based apprenticeship. Students should see their VET teacher for more details.

Students who study a VET course must complete the minimum number of hours in workplacement to be successful in their course.

Students who study VET may choose not to do a HSC examination in that subject.

VET courses studied in 2008/2009 include: Business Services, Construction, Hospitality, Metal and Engineering and Retaill Studies. Information Technology has also been studied at QHS.
