The City
Big engine roaring
Big wheels crushing
Big frame creaking
Big monster truck
Roaring, crushing, creaking
Down my street.
Anthony (Year 7)
It doesn’t matter if your black or white
Were all the same
But to some white people it’s just a game
They took the sand and the trees
They took life of Aborigines
Rhys (Year 7)
Two hundred years ago aborigines were relaxing on their land
White people came and took their land
The aborigines had nowhere to go.
So they asked the white people could they stay.
The white people say “no”,
The only place they could go was into the bush.
Two hundred years later black and white people get along real good
Helping each other, often staying in the same house.
At my school no one is racist, that’s good
There are not that many black people here.
We all live together in harmony.
Reeion (Year 7)

Tiarna (Year 7)
I never want to be apart
And hope you’ll never leave my heart
You’re always there to save my life,
And keep me out of strife
You help me when I need you,
No matter what happens I’ll always love you
And when something has been done,
I won’t care because you’ll still be my Mum
Courtney (Year 7)
Big engine roaring
Big wheels crushing
Big frame creaking
What is it?
Big monster truck
Roaring, crushing, creaking
down my street
Anthony (Year 7)
La Bella Italia
Italy is in the
shape of a boot
Why don’t you go for a toot?
The canals sparkle like diamonds
You don’t have to lose you mind
The singers sing songs
As you walk along.
The capital city is Rome
So don’t’ moan along
The Vatican is where the Pope lives
To guide the nation to give
Money to the poor
As they need it more
New Zealand
New Zealand is an island made of north and south islands. New Zealand lies in
the South Pacific Ocean 1500 kilometres to the southeast of Australia.
New Zealand and English are two different languages of New Zealand. Maori was
the language spoken until the country was settled by Europeans.
Tui (Year 7)
Aborigines were the first in Australia
Ulladulla is a nice sunny place
Shark Boy has a lot of sharks
Thursday Island is a good place to get married
Redcliffe is the biggest cliff in Australia
Araluen has a valley with peaches
Launceston is far away on a Tasmanian bay
J.R.(Year 7)
All the people of France
love to dance
Everyone likes French fries
even people high up in the skies
There is a lot of sparkling seas
and tasty teas
Everyone enjoys the cakes
that the cook bakes
Lots of people come to the Eiffel Tower
many believe it’s got a wonderful power
France has many towns
some are brown
There is great food
to put you in the right mood
There are lots of people in France
and always a reason to prance
There are people who mock
those who wear a frock
Mikayla (Year 7)
I think I love Top Gear,
Jeremy, hamster and Captain. Slow,
Together they put on a great show,
Tackling fast cars without fear,
Once driving a car off a pier,
The STIG defeats with a single blow,
Driving Ferraris with the finest yellow,
The toughest terrain they commander
But then again maybe not,
Interviewing all 2-bit Stars,
They say the STIG smells of lime,
With all the cars they’ve forgot,
Sometimes I ask why they’re not behind bars,
I might be wasting my time
Daniel (year 8)
Scotland is where I will always call my home,
Where my heart and sole fly free
Although Australia is fun, where I am
Free to roam,
I feel only Scotland is truly for me
The tall, green hills; the deep, dark
loch,
Bring me so much more than dust and sand, time is running short, the hands tick on the clock,
I know I must make my way to dear
Scotland
Kelly (year 8)

THE COUNTRY
ITALY
Rugged mountains
all around Rome,
Is where lots of people call home.
Green, white, red is the colours that make them proud,
At every soccer game you here the wildly cheering crowd.
Spaghetti, pizza and lasagne cooked,
Its to eat not for looks.
Their position on the map,
Is where the water mad a gap.
Annalise (year 8)
I stare out into the earth
Thousands of faces stare back
Some kind, some mean
All have things they lack
Whether it be clothes, money or happiness
All have one thing, always
Hunger follows those who aren’t blessed
Those who can’t feed themselves
So tired with waiting for help
From those who have wealth
I turn my head in fear
And I hope those faces disappear

Why are you sitting here Doing absolutely nothing?
When you should get out your gear, And start some writing. So be mature, And act your age, You can do this for sure.
So stop your whinging, You have five minutes, I’m already timing. Alex & Brendan (year 8)
When it is bed time I consider it a dreamtime I go back to my old life When we didn’t use the knife When we got in to strife
But when I awake I get given the rake While everyone else Gets the stake.

Away in the wind, there it goes. There goes that little leaf. It won’t stop until it’s gone. I follow it down the little red lane Through the woods, over the bridge. It blows so far I’m chasing it still.
